Stockpiling....

Okay,

What do I need to stockpile?  Hmm!  Things that our family uses daily and always needs.  Well I got a list of the basics.

  • Toothpaste & toothbrushes
  • Bath soap & deodorant
  • Toilet paper
  • Dish detergent & laundry detergent
  • Cleaning supplies
So these things will be on the top of my list.    Everyone stockpiling list would be different due to your families needs.  I'm about the basics and these are things I seem to run out of and I plan to have at least one years supply on hand.   So my couponing will reflect these things more than anything else until I get that years worth supply in the house.

Coupon Sources for frugal coupon'ers....

There are times when money is so tight that you have to do things outside of the box.   With couponing and my finances now, I can't afford to purchase newspapers.  So, I'm looking for paper recycling stations in my area.  Where I will be dumpster diving with pride!   I'm thinking about checking on networking for coupons with family, neighbors, co-workers, and others.   I'll check back in to let you know how my plan is working.

Coupon need'b'ers vs Coupon want'b'ers...

Question to ask yourself...

Do I need to coupon vs want to coupon?

In my case,  I need to coupon!   I'm financially poor!   Robbing Peter to pay Paul & 7 brothers every month.  Struggling to stay a float and having food on the table.  That's my situation!  Your situation may be different but we all could stand to save some money.

I remember that my grandmother had the shelves stocked at all times.  We never went hungry.  She stocked up on staples and household supplies.  But not in my house....I can remember running out of food and making due with rice & beans for a few days to another payday.   Never at my grandparents house did that happen.  She saved and shopped responsiblilty.

So my reason is need to save money.  I know that there is expense with couponing but it's only a few dollars a week to save many dollars.   There is the time factor...but it's worth it in the money savings.

Walgreens week of 4/17

Did my first Walgreen sale.....  I purchased $63 worth of stuff...and saved $53.00 in coupons!   Got rewards points at the register (RR) in $5.00 and used that to purchase 2 scotts tissue 4pks/$5...I got them FREE!   Made a mistake could have got another RR but did purchase 2 more items... Learning curve.
